First of all, let me thank all of you who posted comments here; I very much appreciate your concern and good wishes.

I'm actually not particularly upset about not getting the job. I'm disappointed, to be sure, and I'm trying to keep a positive attitude. But I honestly didn't think I'd make the cut, although my self-assessment was because I thought I'd booted the technical screening, not the management interview. But so it goes.

Anyway, I have more important things to worry about than getting a job: [livejournal.com profile] angilong has had a fever of 101-103 for about three days now, and it's not getting better. I made an appointment at a nearby clinic for tomorrow morning, in case her fever doesn't break tonight. In the meantime I've been doing what I can to pamper her, because I know that when she's ill she wants and needs extra attention.

I stayed up all night (stupid me) in case there might be a problem, because I know how hard it is to wake me. I dozed for a couple of hours, once the older kids were awake and could respond to a potential emergency.

This weekend I'm heading to California to visit my daughter. I hope Angi's better by then, because I think her kids are also due to visit their respective dads, which means she'll be alone. Maybe the clinic will actually diagnose something treatable (as opposed to the default "it's a virus, let it run its course" when they can't figure it out) and she'll be mostly recovered by Friday afternoon.

Oh, and to the anonymous benefactor who paid for a year's membership to LJ: thanks, from the deepest reaches of my heart.

I hope Angi feels better soon and that your plans for the weekend work out.
