…wouldn't you like to be a terr'rist too?

A Seattle Post-Intelligencer article reports on the recently-concluded "Cyber Storm" wargame:
The government concluded its "Cyber Storm" wargame Friday, its biggest-ever exercise to test how it would respond to devastating attacks over the Internet from anti-globalization activists, underground hackers and bloggers.

Bloggers?

Participants confirmed parts of the worldwide simulation challenged government officials and industry executives to respond to deliberate misinformation campaigns and activist calls by Internet bloggers, online diarists whose "Web logs" include political rantings and musings about current events.
Well, there you have it. If your LJ includes anything the gum'mint deems objectionable, you're officially a terrorist.

Welcome to the revolution, citizen. For some distinctly one-sided commentary, see this diary at Daily Kos.

Gee, Mom, I always wanted to be a terrorist when I grew up.

I dance nude and I rant politics on the Internet. I'm obviously the most dangerous individual the world has ever known.

when the government says it "concluded" the "wargame", then you can read between the lines and assume that the active duty segment of cyberstorm has officially commenced.

Calling us terrorists makes no more sense than calling us alien abductees. But they're trapped in that version of the story by the constraints placed on them by Congress: unless it's dangerous political operatives they're fighting, their battle doesn't get funded.

HUAC made no more sense than this, but people were scared enough so they couldn't effectively participate in the remedy.

The question remains, as it always has, are you too frightened to try to make a difference?

I think I can answer this for both of us: Hell No. I will continue to stick my neck out and speak out, and engage in the sorts of protest that the U.S. Constitution guarantees I have a right to do.

Vive la resistance. No doubt there is much in my LJ and other blogging (WashBlog, Daily Kos) that the gubmint finds objectionable, as I do discuss politics and current events, and I'm often critical of the Bush administration.

How does it feel to be a terra-ist, married to a terra-ist?

And remember, you live right next door. Better keep an eye on the neighbors. I am certain they're keeping an eye on you.

Luckily, they're not very good at it.
