Perhaps there's hope after all...

So, whenever we drive between our home and the ferry, we pass a house. Actually, we pass a large number of houses, but this particular one has always had a sign in the yard saying, "Defend America's Freedom! Support the President and Our Troops."
It's been there for at least a year, probably longer. It's part of the landscape, present but noted only when I'm irritable enough to remind myself, "You can fool some of the people all of the time."
Today, however… today, the sign was different. The words "the President and" were covered over with tape.
