One of my ex-wives cured me of being out late and not calling home by leaving out a list of what she was going to buy with my life insurance proceeds. The point being that I'd better be worth more alive than dead. Monetarily speaking, anyway.

My life insurance expired when I turned 50 and the premiums ballooned beyond what I could afford to pay. Since then, I've been worth far more alive than dead.

At least until now. This morning, my beloved [livejournal.com profile] riverheart gave me her last twenty dollars to buy gas for our car. I have eight dollars in the checking and five in savings. She has a job she dearly loves, but which is chronically late in paying her. I have no job, although I'm interviewing for a position on Thursday morning. I feel utterly worthless.

I'm not asking for your money. I don't want charity.

But what I'd like, if you're so inclined, is for you to ask the Powers That Be (in whatever manifestation you imagine them) to arrange matters so that [livejournal.com profile] riverheart and me can both be employed by enterprises that pay promptly, earning enough that we can live comfortably. All this, of course, for the greatest good of all concerned.

Job for Charles;
Job for Charles;
Job for Charles;
NO FISH!

Thank you.

You don't know me, but I'm pretty good at that candle lighting thing.
Consider it done.

But I thought you guys liked fish. :)

Request sent. Whether it involves fish or not is up to the Universe. (And if it does, I'm gonna laugh my ass off... ;)

Careful, [livejournal.com profile] elorie did the same chant and ended up working in a hatchery. :)

The no fish spell is an old caw one. :)

Some of the history of how it came about can be found

If you use the No Fish spell, you get what you want, and you ALWAYS get fish.

That's just fine with me.

Since I'm going to light a candle and doing affirmations for myself tonight, I should at least do that for you and [livejournal.com profile] riverheart too. And I will.

May there be great jobs for you and all who want them.

(But failing that, even a plain old OK job will do in the meantime.)

(I loved the backstory on the no fish spell!)
