Although the judge in this article is being cited as a hero on Fark, I think the punishment is far too lenient. (For those of you without a strong stomach, suffice it to say that a judge sentenced a 24-year-old woman to 60 years behind bars— 30 of them without possibility of parole— for severely injuring her two-year-old son.)

I firmly believe that the woman should be forced to undergo the same horrors she inflicted on her baby, ever single day of her sickening life. Moreover, that she should receive these tender mercies from the one person in the universe that she trusts wholeheartedly and unreservedly, from whom she depends on everything in her life.

Oh, can you tell I'm a parent?

She has been placed in "protective isolation" in jail.

From comments I saw elsewhere, apparently this was her second conviction for injuring the same child. How on earth could she have been given another chance at him?

Naaah, I never would've guessed you were a parent. Surely a parent would never have such a visceral reaction to that kind of .... grr, strong enough words fail me, and I've only been a de facto dad, never in law or by biology... Naah, never would've guessed in a million years.

BTW, you realize that you have a redheaded step-dog. :)

there is a hell

Before I saw the additional posting I was going to say....
Jail is not a safe place for child molesters and abusers.

Very few inmates will tolerate that kind of offense. It is at the very bottom of the pecking order. Cop killers do well, child abusers are vilified and abused badly in prison (speaking as a person with over 25 years of experience in corrections).

She will get hers, it just takes more time than we want to wait sometimes...

As to why was she given a second chance? I'd guess that she can present a pathetic/sympathetic case to those who do not yet have her number.
