It's almost time to register for the next (and FINAL!!) quarter of classes.
The good news is that the two classes I really want, C/C++ Programming and Introduction to TCP/IP, are both being offered next quarter. The bad news is that one is from 8:00-10:00 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday (plus an hour on Friday, 9:00-10:00), and the other is at 6:00-8:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.
That's right, kids: I'll be on campus for TWELVE AND A HALF FRIGGING HOURS twice a week. Plus travel time (bus, bus, ferry), which means I won't be getting home until eleven-ish at night. And I'll be waking at four-thirty ack-emma. Bleh.
Oh, well... at least the class for which I hope to be the lab aide (and thereby earn my Internship credits) is also on Tuesday-Thursday. And I'll have Monday and Wednesday to myself, unless I have to serve as an aide on those days as well. (I need three credits of Internship; each credit requires 33 hours of time on the job, which means 99 hours for the entire quarter. The quarter is nominally 11-1/2 weeks, from January 5 to March 24, but the last week is consumed by finals. So I'll have about 10 weeks to garner those 99 work hours, or basically 10 hours per week if nothing goes wrong. And I don't know if there'll be enough need for lab time in the Cisco class to justify my putting in that much time as an aide. Sigh.)

Got the footprints on my T-shirt, got the bruises I can show.
Yes I been there, done that, learned to recognize
When it's time to call for backup by the frenzy in their eyes.

Date: 2003-11-03 05:40 pm (UTC)That happened to three of the classes I wanted this quarter, at literally the last minute. I found out on the first day of class that I'd need to scramble for credits. Fortunately, I was able to find enough to keep me in full-time status and make progress on my degree, but it was a damned close-run thing.
Oh, and my daily schedule which had me in class from 8:00 to noon at the latest, with the afternoons completely free for getting a job or doing stuff? Now it's 8:00-10:00 Tu/Th, noon-4:30 M/W, and 9:00-10:00 plus noon-1:00 Friday. Yech.
