Parrots of the Caribbean
Sep. 20th, 2003 01:15 amIn honor of Talk Like A Pirate Day,
riverheart and I went to see Pirates of the Caribbean. (Finally. We'd wanted to go since it first opened, but somehow didn't get around to it until now. It seemed so appropriate...)
The movie itself was a rollicking good show, easily the best film based on a Disneyland ride that I've seen this year. As the final credits were rolling, I commented to the world at large in my best "pirate" voice, "Aye, mateys, we're here in honor of 'Talk Like A Pirate Day'. Arrrr!"
A woman in the row in front of us turned around as she was getting ready to leave, and replied, "Oh, I know all about it. I've got nine of them at home."
She may have seen the slightly puzzled look in our eyes. In a flash I thought to myself, "Nine? Nine what? Nine kids who know about TLAP Day? Nine pirates? Nine what??" She continued, "I certainly know how to talk like a parrot."
We actually managed not to break out in howls of laughter until we reached our carrrrr, mateys.
