... is no news. Neither good nor bad; I feel like Schrödinger's Cat, in that I'm neither dead nor alive during this extended moment of quantum resolution.

Regardless of whether I get hired or not, I want to thank all of you who have expressed your concern and good wishes. Having your benedictions enveloping me was of immense support.

In other news, my visit with Mandy, my daughter in California, went well. We saw a couple of movies (Stuart Little 2 and Lilo and Stitch), went to a zoo/playground called Happy Hollow (where I discovered my family membership to Seattle's Woodland Park Zoo would get us in free, thanks to a network of reciprocal membership agreements), spent a couple of quiet hours at the San Jose Museum of Art, and generally had a good time together. Her mom hadn't wanted to let me have Mandy over the Labor Day extended weekend, but after a frank and open discussion (wherein I reminded her that I'd accomodated her eleventh-hour schedule changes all summer, and that I get so little time with Mandy that being denied a three-day weekend was simply beyond the pale) she acquiesced.

My lifepartner, [livejournal.com profile] angilong, is having an Important Visitor this weekend. Australian Joe will be here from Thursday to Tuesday (I think), and I really wish I had somewhere else to be. Not because I don't want to be around them, but that I want to give them the privacy they need to affirm their partnership. Unfortunately, that's not an option because of our finances, so I'll plan on sleeping as far from the bedroom as I can manage, and try to schedule enough personal activities to stay out of their way. Gaming on Thursday and Friday nights, plus Sunday afternoon; that's a start, anyway.

The van is in the shop for routine maintenance. We have to get an emission control certificate so we can renew the license tabs, and I'd rather it pass the first time. (Yes, I know you can get a free re-test, and even have the certificate waived if you spend enough on repairs after the first test, but the van was overdue for an oil change, filters and suchlike, so there was no reason to defer having the work done.) [livejournal.com profile] angilong and Stormy are off to the zoo for the afternoon, and I may phone my sweetie in Olympia to see when we might be able to get together. And then remind the other kids, again and again, that they're supposed to be doing housework chores and that their continued freedom of activity depends on the tasks actual completion; lather, rinse, repeat.
