When the kids lie to me, or when they just ignore me completely.
Yesterday I asked the middle two kids repeatedly to take out the garbage and recycling. Repeatedly. Nothing happened. Finally I noticed they'd gone to bed, and on their bedroom door was a note promising they'd do it first thing in the morning.
Got up this morning, and they'd already left for school. Was the garbage and recycling taken out? Hah!
They've been grounded so often they just don't care. Neither one of them seems to care enough about anything that restricting it fazes them.
Oh, and the eldest and her friend wanted some items from the grocery store so they could make treats for a school party, so off we went. We bought some other things that we needed, including some non-dairy frozen desserts for the (lactose-intolerant) littlest one and some needed bathroom supplies. Hours later, I was in the bathroom and noticed the bag sitting on the toilet tank. It it were the bathroom items and the box of not very frozen treats. Eldest's friend carried the bag in and just dropped it there, without bothering to see what was in it. Oh, and the two of them trashed the kitchen while making their school yummies, and despite being reminded repeatedly (there's that word again) to clean up and run a load of dishes, the kitchen's still a shitpile.
In other news, we had to cancel the satellite TV service because we can't afford it any longer.
