The mower broke a couple of months ago. It's electric, and it started spitting sparks and popping the house's circuit breakers, so the lawn now looks like a very unkempt thing. Worse yet, we're the only place on the block that hasn't been mowed in ages, so we really stick out like the proverbial sore thumb.

I had a deal on a gas mower; $20, if I'd pick it up. But SWMBA said no, we could only have an electric, so byebye deal.

I really ought to ask one of the neighbors if I could borrow their mower for half a day-- I figure it'll take that long to deal with our little yard, because mowing tall grass is ten times harder than trimming the short stuff-- but we don't really know any of our neighbors, even after having lived here several years. And I'm embarassed to admit my indolence to someone in person, even though it's painfully obvious to any passer-by.

Bite the bullet. Do what I have to do, and I'll feel better afterward for having the task behind me.
