Our First Tree
Dec. 22nd, 2003 11:58 pmWe decorated our first Yule/Christmas tree tonight. The first of many that we'll do, together.
It's a living tree, root ball and all; we'll plant it (probably in the front pasture, near the driveway where the unwanted alder trees had been) on the 27th or 28th, rain or shine. The gods willing, it'll prosper and thrive for decades to come, as will all the trees we plant in love and joy.
We're sad that my kids can't be with us this holiday season, for various reasons some good, some not so good. But they're in our hearts at least, and that's important.
We don't have much money so there won't be many packages under the tree. But we've donated to a worthy cause through a community center to which we belong, so that some kids and families who wouldn't have had anything at all will at least see some joy in their lives this holiday season.
It's a good time of year, despite the pressures and hassles and all of the crap that's going on around us.
I love you,
riverheart. And a joyous Yule to you.
